Neuromuscular Disease
I live with a neuromuscular disease, and the results of my hyperbaric treatments have been so astonishing they’re hard to believe. I started the therapy after over a decade of steadily worsening pain: no medication could relieve it, and massage only offered temporary relief. Pain—often unbearable—shadowed every routine daily activity. I braced myself for every small movement, yet still let out yelps or cried during severe spasms. The pain robbed me of sleep, and that’s what finally pushed me to try hyperbaric therapy.
From my very first session, the results were stunning. Within two days, I could stand to use my walker without the usual, crippling pain in my leg muscles and joints. By the fifth treatment, the constant pain in my shoulders, arms, and hands had eased so much that I could hold a pen and write legibly—a simple task that had been impossible for months. Best of all? I was sleeping again. Hallelujah! After seven treatments, the pain—all of it—was gone. Gone.
The list of positive changes feels almost endless. Talking about it can be awkward, because the effects truly seem like a miracle. But if sharing my experience encourages others to try hyperbaric therapy, it’s worth it. Here’s what I’ve gained:
